Chronic Pain in Women with Spina Bifida
Women with Spina Bifida experience chronic pain related to mobility challenges, spinal, and other physical health concerns. Yet too often, their pain is minimized or dismissed by healthcare providers who may not fully understand the unique impact of Spina Bifida on women.
Pain shouldn’t be ignored. Proactive, patient-centered care, accessible exam rooms and equipment, and coordination across multiple specialists are essential to ensure pain is recognized, addressed, and managed effectively. When women with Spina Bifida are heard and supported, their quality of life improves, and their health outcomes are better.
