Depression vs. Anxiety: What People with Spina Bifida Need to Know
Depression and anxiety are often talked about together, but they are not the same.
For people with Spina Bifida, understanding the difference can help you recognize what you or a loved one may be experiencing.
Depression may look like:
- Persistent sadness or “empty” feelings
- Loss of interest in activities
- Fatigue or low energy
- Feelings of hopelessness
Anxiety may look like:
- Constant worry or fear
- Feeling tense or on edge
- Difficulty concentrating
- A sense of dread or panic
Both can affect daily life, and they often occur together. The good news is that both are treatable.
