Volunteer Your Time and Touch So Many Lives

Our volunteers are the glue that holds our organization together!

Volunteering allows you to connect with the Spina Bifida community and make a positive impact on the lives you touch. We offer a variety of volunteer experiences for all different interests which serve our community. We rely on our volunteers to lead, advise, and plan in the areas of governance, programming, fundraising, and advocacy; creating a more fulfilling impact on our consumers across the entire state. Join a Committee

What does it mean to be a committee member? Join a team of hardworking individuals who utilize their personal and professional skills of communication, organization, outreach, research, event planning, and facilitation to meet our mission! Committees often meet virtually for one hour a month on weekday evenings.

Committee areas include:

Work with local state and federal representatives to raise awareness about the Spina Bifida community.

Ensure board members have the competencies necessary to perform as Board Members, use best practices with policies and procedures, and recommend revised and new policies and procedures.

Provide governance and recommendations on investment strategies and policies, budget adjustments, financial input, and tax expertise.

Plan the annual Gala which includes a silent and live auction, event entertainment, and hospitality.

Help develop the growth of the organization by planning and achieving fundraising and marketing goals.

Help plan and implement this popular friends and family walk & roll-athon and picnic. The event includes a raffle, contests, merchandise, food & beverages, vendors, and entertainment.

Join an Advisory Council

What does it mean to be a council member?  Council members are called upon to provide guidance and advice based on their own personal experience, knowledge and expertise. Council members are invited to apply for a one year-team and required to meet virtually four times a year, as well as be available by email or telephone throughout the year.

The council will consist of a group of adults (18 years and older) living with Spina Bifida. The goal is to share insight, support, and resources related to the needs of living with Spina Bifida in order to better serve our consumers. 

The council will consist of a group of parents/caregivers of children with Spina Bifida. The goal is to share insight, support, and resources related to the needs of parents of children with Spina Bifida and their families. 

The council will consist of a group of individuals who live, work, recreate, and/or have an interest in the region who can help address the local needs and wants of the Spina Bifida community.
